I"m trying to obtain a grip on the correct capitalization for esstates in the Old History-Based Writing Lessons. I understand that "Pyramid of Giza" is a appropriate noun and also must be capitalized. And I understand that just the noun, not the adjective, must be capitalized in words such as "ancient Egyptians".

But what about "Old World" or "Salso Wonders of the World"?

Looking them up online, both seem to be considered correct nouns, so they need to be capitalized. But in the derekwadsworth.com sample essay in Unit 2, they are not capitalized. Can anyone assist clarify this for me?

Thank you!

Karen

I am finding combined outcomes.

"Old world" is not a correct noun according to what I"m finding online. The just time "ancient" must be capitalized is as soon as it starts the sentence.

The following one, the Salso Marvels of the Old World, is a little bit even more fuzzy. I have watched it listed across the Net in these iterations:

the Salso Wonders of the Old Worldthe Salso Marvels of the prehistoric worldthe salso wonders of the ancient world

The only listing I uncovered in a capitalization guide verified that the second listing, the Seven Wonders of the ancient world" was correct. The rest of the variations I uncovered in assorted internet searcs throughout the Web. My finest idea is to pick a conventional and also stick with it and also make it your course "style overvderekwadsworth.com."

Thanks Jennifer! You're ideal (In reply to #2)

Thanks Jennifer! You"re best - the results are mixed. I appreciate your referral to make a class "style guide"!

Follow-up question concerning capitalization. We are wondering about the capitalization for the "plant of life". Should it be capitalized "Plant of Life" in a sentence bereason it"s referring to a details plant, and is therefore a proper noun? Aget, the derekwadsworth.com essay does not capitalize it. Should we stick with lowercase in this instance?

Thanks!

I think that's another situation

I think that"s one more case for a course style guide decision. But since it"s not capitalized in the student message, I can save things going via the standing quo to aid prevent any confusion. You will not be wrong either way you select to take it.
